Symptoms of each STD/STI can vary from local symptoms affecting the genitals, to symptoms that affect various other parts of the body. The following is not a definitive list of symptoms, but these are the common ones to look out for:
- Burning or pain during urination or bowel movement - chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis
Itching, burning or tingling around the genital area - gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, Anogenital Warts, Pubic Lice/Crabs (Scabies)
Rash, blisters, sores, ulcer, spots or lumps on - Anogenital Warts, Genital Herpes, Syphilis
the penis around the vagina, vulva, mouth or anus.
Anal discomfort, Itching - chlamydia, gonorrhea, Anogenital Warts
Black powder or tiny white dots in - Pubic Lice/Crabs (Scabies)
your underwear or live lice in pubic hair
Yellow or green vaginal discharge, smells - chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis
or unusual penis discharge
Swelling of the lymph nodes/glands in your groin - Genital Herpes, Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS
Many cases of STI, no symptoms may develop at all- chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, Anogenital Warts, Genital Herpes
